what bolt pattern? need 8 on 6.5 old school. and does anyone know if these parts will fit a 79 ford HP KP dana 60? also are these 1/2 lugs or 9/16? need 9/16"
Greg what the heck are you putting a $6,000 axle on?

TILEMAN
05-27-2010, 04:49 PM
Yes, everything will fit that dana 60 except the inner shafts, which Im keeping. I am building this to replace my weak link, not a weak axle by any stretch of the word; this is a built to hilt dana 44; which will be for sale once completed. I want to beat the shit out of my rig without having that little man in my head say (you better not hit that) Its going in my Jeep.

Its not that I have allot to throw away but if you need to get rid of some I will glady releave you of it.

Like your Willy, if your gonna do something, do it once and do it right. Don't take shortcuts. Thats what lands you in the parking lot turning wrenches.

I believe you get what you pay for & you know what you have if you build it yourself. Iv'e been screwed once to many times in my life.

Parts are on there way and the axle is at the machine shop being cut down to specs I provided. I will have an early Christmas this year. I can't frikken wait. The next 2 things is full Hydro, only need a dbl ended ram and an orbital, have everything else already; then 42" rubbers.

I contacted Andrew (jpcrawleram) on Pirate4x4 when I bought my PSC hydro stuff. He had the best deal around brotha.. May can contact him for a quote.

Congrats btw on your tons, I know you will be even more crazy now knowing you have a beefy ass axle.

Dont you wanna sell those 36" IROKS to me to help pay for your build?

im am interested in the rotors / calipers / locking hubs / spindles, if the rotors have the 9/16 hole for 9/16 wheel studs and they are not metric pattern. let me know, thx

Randy

I went with Andrew on my single ended ram, too. He had the best deal when I was searching also. For my valve I went with a Dan Foss valve from Sean Stapley out of Alabama. He's on Pirate, also. I've read too many horror stories about PSC's rams acting up because they're built with cheap crap.

My rear is a built to the hilt 9"

ropeman
06-16-2010, 06:41 AM
That sounds like an interesting new front for the TJ, but why are you spending $900 to convert it to 5 on 5.5? What you should have done is convert the rear to 8 lug.

Now that I think about it it might cost more with buying new rims to run the 8 lug, but it looks so cool with those 8 lugs :)

TILEMAN

Yep, 900 vs 2500 for new beadlocks. Its a no brainer.

Will post pics later, today I rebuilt the kingpins, new bearings, races, cups etc, installed the dedenbear knuckles, studs, top and bottom plates, high steer arms, torqued all the bolts, built out the axles, installed 300M joints into the shafts, installed Mad Dog 4x4 axles seals into the end tubes, installed the axles and grease fittings on the joints. Thats where I stopped. Tommorow, we'll see. Need to install brake brackets, spindles, bearings and such, mount the rotor/hub assemblies, pack bearings and install calipers, drive slugs and caps. Then its ready to move under the jeep for final fitment. Tired, going to a party to drink a cold one. You all be safe, don't blow off your hands.

Everything is done, for the exception of painting a couple of things and getting them huge snap rings installed to hold the drive slugs. Something has changed in my photobucket account and I having trouble figuring it out. Pics soon.

I don't think that thing's gonna hold up. You need Rockwells. Then I think you'll finally have a bulletproof drivetrain.

TILEMAN
07-06-2010, 02:57 PM
That, i can promise you will never happen. I would not run rocks if they were given to me.

If there is any portion of this build you want to see, let me know and I will post pics of the process. To many pics. More fun building than typing. I can say installing 300M joints in the axles was a serious PITA. I threw them snap rings out in the yard and tack welded the caps. No frikken room to work with them things and installing those HUGE snap rings to hold in the drive slugs was a 2 man job. Thanks Jon. Could not have done that without you.
