Can anyone tell me why my TH400 tranny wont shift into 3rd gear?
Edit*** Sorry, I think I posted this in the wrong section. Mod's feel free to move.

Never mind, I figured it out. The vacuum line had slipped off modulator on the transmission. This fixed the shift problem and overall performance of the jeep.....major vacuum loss is bad. The jeep is running much better, although I still need to tune the carb and nail down the timing.
The newest problem right now is with the ignition. I replaced the turn signal switch, and the million wires attached to it, tonight. I had to take the whole damn steering column apart near bout' just to get the wiring harness to fit through the column. After putting everything back together I can now turn the ignition switch without the key? Guess I gotta take the steering wheel off again and look at the assembly to see where I messed up. Oh well, it's not really that hard to take off. The biggest pain in the ass is compressing that spring and getting the retaining clip back on.
At least I have blinkers now. Next is trying to get brake lights.

Just a question for you...Since there isn't a kickdown cable or anything like that on a turbo 400, did you buy a Wide Open Throttle Switch for it? It will help in the longevity of the tranny, basicly it electricly makes the tranny shift down a gear during hard acceleration. Picked mine up at Summit Racing I think for about $50 shipped, it took about 30 minutes to wire and adjust it.

I didn't either, but thought a auto tranny had to have some type of kick down set up. Look on the drivers side of the transmission you should see a male spade connector sticking out of the side, that's where you'll plug the wire onto coming from the switch.
