If Tileman doesn't have one, get up with jeepbuilder. He's got a truck bed full of em and it's all got to go.

sorry i havent gotten back to any of you lately, ive been real busy with work and holiday crap. im gonna check on the length as soon as possible. on another note, does the gas tank NEED a fuel vent because ive had my gas tank welded twice so far and it keeps leaking from the same exact spot each time i install it and fill it up, it only leaks when its installed though. i checked the hose clamps and everything but i cant find where EXACTLY its leaking from when its installed. thats just another thing i noticed awhile back when i had time to work on it. any info on that too would be great! thanks!! if i have any time when i get home today ill measure the driveshaft

Yes absolutely the fuel tank needs some kind of vent to allow air to replace gasoline as it is used.
. . .some later fuel injected vehicles are a different story. Some of them actually pressurize the fuel tank. But an old carbureted Jeep *for sure* needs a tank vent.

This would be the fuel vent and filler hoses, yes? (pic found on the net somewhere) these two are hooked up on my jeep but i dont know where the end of the smaller hose ends at. would it connect to the filler hose by the gas cap or what?
and if thats not the fuel vent, could i get a small air filter and stick it on the other side of the tank where this fuel line is and just block off the other port?

There is a small vent hose that connects to the filler tube. It lets air out of the tank while filling.

so i would need to add a seperate vent to let air in when gas is used, right?

To be sure we're talking about the same hose, there is also a rollover valve in some of the tanks that is vented to the charcoal cannister for emissions. The vapors from the cannister are drawn into the intake on startup. This hose is about 3/8" id. . The rollover valve is usually in the top of the tank.

One other thing. Don't stick an air filter on your fuel tank. Bad fire hazzard in a rollover. Use a rollover valve. You should not spill fuel in a 360` roll.

would that be the port attached to the top of the fuel sending unit?
