Sister-in-law and Boyfriend-in-law are coming up next weekend, 10 days. I'm heading to jax on friday to pick up the 351 but will be back friday night. Hoping to get something together for saturday, morning, day, I should have lights at that point, so night works too.

Location, time, who's going, do we want to bring food?

Lets hear your thoughts!

My sister and BF in law would love that!! Problem...our rig is soo not ready babe. We don't even have a passenger seat...?

I guess we could just tape John to the floor...or tie him to the roll cage...LoL

well new engine coming, means a good time to blow yours up. and not worry about it.

Nothing like just going out and seeing what all you can break.

I have no idea what we are doing, but I am sure some of the other troops will speak up with some ideas.

I am probably game, but my new tcase arrives this week or early next and I have axles to build. We will see, I would not mind riding for a change. Maybe turn over the bronco, or somethin fun like that. I know a great place for windsheilds, it's almost like takeout.

If you break it...doesn't that mean you can't sell it? Or get as much for it? I'd like to make up some of the lost income with the old engine!!! Am I asking too much? :o

That's why we need to build a six point roll cage like yours Greg!! We learned a lot that day! Trust me...you don't want to roll in our rig!! It is fun to take a ride in though...just bring your crate...you'll need a place to sit ;)

I might be persuaded, if I have my flatty's, sliders, and steering linkage done. Oh, and my tank skid on.

lonesouth
07-11-2007, 09:32 PM
Well, I'm not super concerned about the cage...I can just try to stay on flat ground. If someone has time to build a cage on saturday, then we can play a little more rough. We'll see. Either way, lets find somewhere to wheel...that or we end up out at perry for the mud bogg...talk about breaking stuff.

"farm fabbed" sheit that will scare you to death.
"engineered" sheit that will scare you to death.
interco boggers
drunk chicks that are short of the 36 tooth count
drunk dudes that are short of the 36 tooth count
good ol' boys...
good ol' gals...
lots of beer
lots of mud

pretty much a fun time. taylor made for taylor county. pine trees and mud.

i've got a crib in steinhatchee.....i love it.

come to think of it....i've got a bridge....so i'm not up to the 36 count either!

Yea, $15 a head is steep. Plus, no beer or ATVs. That's why I was looking to get us togethere and do something else.

Jason, any chance you aren't busy saturday and can/want to put together a roll cage?

I'm not steering this toward doing perry, I would rather go do something that didn't cost $15 each. Perry is just one option

ecollins
07-12-2007, 10:19 AM
Goose Pasture might be an option, but ask some of the guys that got busted there last year.

There is a covered picnic area, also grills and a river there. with a very large porta pooty.

BroncoNole

There are places at goose pasture that is legal and places that are not.

Let me find a link, you have to reserve the meeting area, it is free.

Looks like much more fun than Perry...plus it's free!! Can't beat it!! Who's in?!?!

ecollins
07-12-2007, 11:13 AM
First we have to reserve the meeting place. Then we need to get the 4 members with warnings to tell us where we can wheel.

that is for starters.

then decide who all is going.

What we are going to eat.

BroncoNole
07-12-2007, 11:17 AM
Can you tell me who the "warned ones" are so I can PM them about it? Or should I just ask them here? Where do I find out how to reserve the place and I will call and do it!

I can bring burgers, dogs and stuff. People coming could bring sides, chips, drinks, whatever...

ecollins
07-12-2007, 11:26 AM

(800) 226-1066 (good in Florida only) or (386) 362-1001. Primitive camping (tents only) is allowed at designated sites along the Florida Trail.

tell them you would like to reserve the group meeting area @ Goose Pasture

For the day, or for the weekend if anyone wants to camp.

Shouldn't we see who is interested before we book anything? Where is it located?

ecollins
07-12-2007, 11:37 AM
It is about an hour drive from tallahassee, just book it.

You willg et some peopel to come.

As long as it does not cost anything there is no harm. Plus you need to make sure it is even avail that day.

You can ride on anything that is marked...can't make your own trails though. Check out the pictures from their last Goose trip ORI.

There is places you can ride, and places you cant ride. I dont know where rock quarry is but this is south of lamont. State Park area.

ori
07-13-2007, 09:44 AM
Yeah that's where I thought it was. My counterman grew up in that area he used to ride out there all the time. If you keep going south there is a rock quarry. Thats where we got the rocks out in front of the store.

We are going to bring the Bronco...so that's 1

83°57'6.42"W

Google earth it and let me know if that's right

TILEMAN
07-13-2007, 04:56 PM
I hope those are right, because once I launch my rocketship, it will land whenever I program it too. You could really mess a guy up. Hey, I bought a 89 YJ today for $1500. Runs, bone stock, good tires, has a nasty valve cover leak. But they all do. Body in pretty good condition. the only rust is a softball size hole in the floor pan behind the drivers seat. Need to clean it up, install a 4" lift, put on some 33" shoes, and gear the hell out of it. It's a 4 banger after all. Somethin cheaper to roll. Hell ya. Will post pics later. It's Green. The name is the "GREEN HORNET". catchy huh?

ecollins
07-13-2007, 05:28 PM
man i have been looking for one of those deals.

lonesouth
07-13-2007, 05:39 PM
you building another garage? I tell you what, even though its a jeep, i'll take the black one off your hands, so you have somewhere to park the green one.

TILEMAN
07-13-2007, 07:09 PM
Um, let me think about that>>>>>>>>NO. I will have a parking lot of Jeeps before it's all done. I think I will be turning them over. I have a pretty good source locally and have great luck with purchases. Hell, I just got done pressure cleaning the engine carpartment and found that the only leak was the fill cap gasket was broken. Put a new one in, no more leak. Man that guy would be pissed now if he saw what he just sold me. Runs like a sewing machine. Need to lift it, tuck some 33's and gear to 4.56 or 4.88. Wheel it till it blows apart. Then rebuild. Sounds fun doesn't it.

Scully
07-13-2007, 08:11 PM
Do I still have some tars and wheels......or did they just get used on something else?

lonesouth
07-13-2007, 09:55 PM
which one you bringing out to goose? We just rode out there, bout 40 minutes going I-10, more than an hour going woodville hwy to 98.

TILEMAN
07-13-2007, 10:38 PM
Scully, I have been meaning to get with ya about that. Before I left for Hawaii, I mentioned to my wife that I had the tires sold, she about chopped my head off. Apparently she would like those put on her vehicle before I sell them. Never mind the new Jeep, I will have to buy new ones for that thing. So in keeping the peace and all that, I guess the answer is obvious. I apoligize, I will keep my eyes & ears open for a deal for ya. You know me, if there is a deal somewhere I'll step in it.

I will most likely bring the Jeep?

I am in for the ride. Turns out it is right down the road from my mother-in-law's place.

Is this place a nice ride or does it suck. It is a long haul for me to pull my Jeep for nothing. Is it legal? It ain't woth getting a ticket either. According to Google Earth, it is a big ass pond and a lot of mud. Is it all mud riding? I am game to go play with friends, I just don't want to put myself out too much that far away.

ecollins
07-14-2007, 10:22 AM
It is always questionable what is legal and what is not. we had been out there a dozen times. 4 guys have gotten warning tickets.

It is a lot of mud. If the road the guys said is now off limits is closed. Then we will have to do some other things. I dont know the area that good. Me and brandi will not be wheeling anyhow.

Unless santa clause brings me a jeep before then.

(I dont know about a big pond) there is a rock quary, and a river.

I can say there will be good food.

Probally Mild Riding.

I would also say, it is not a bad drive for us tallahassee people, but I would not make it from PC unless I just wanted to hang with good friends and drink beer eat food, and roam the woods.

Deva-stated---DEVA-STATED! Lil red had been celebrating thinkin it was going to get bigger shoes.
I'm not sure what it will take to repair all these broken emotions. The only thing I can think of off hand is mass quantities of beer! I know the gang that was there that day are devestated and I am sure they will also require mass quantities to soothe their hurt as well. Right gang?
So that's the answer - mass quantities of beer provided by tileman at our next gathering.
Oh, by the way Greg, I do understand - been there, done that.
Stay on the lookout for me.

22nd is the wife's birthday. I am committed to an out of town trip that weekend. I like the pasture as well. Just hate the fact we are limited on where we can run. Realy had a great time that last run but I believe that is the trail that is now off limits. Oh well - an opportunity to find more.
Yall have fun.

TILEMAN
07-14-2007, 08:37 PM

...so does anyone know about where to go riding out there? Sould we change venue to a more trail friendly location? Keep in mind, if we all get out there and it sucks cause we can't ride anywhere, Edwin made the suggestion! Either way, tho, I'm sure we will have a good time. If I've learned nothing else in life, its that it doesn't matter where you are, or what you do, so long as there are good people around you. *Tear* But really, trails are good too.

BTW, i just washed my rig today, from pete's place, and I had some new body lines on the front right and back left corners. Some bondo falling off the front right. Hoping to get the seats in tomorrow, as well as the CB and some lights!

I really do not know anywhere else locally or near by to ride. Besides Petes House.

This is the only place locally we have been to ride and meet up as a group.
If anyone knows any place better to go, speak up. If there is no mud, and you are not happy atleast you will be drunk and with friends. I mean if you drink. We dont mind seeing the bronco run through a few ditches..... :)

You know state parks are a privilage and not a right.

Being allowed to drive is a privilage, not a right.

Getting screwed by the insurance companies is a privilage not a right.

Getting screwed by big oil is a privilage not a right.

We have no more rights. Wether we are talking about driving, riding, fishing, or even flocking.

There are laws, then by laws, and in case those laws do not get you there are generic laws. If all else fails there is always in-laws.

On the radio this morning, there was a long story on "Florida State Parks" brought 900,000,000 million dollars to florida last year alone.

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Florida Park Service announced today that Florida State Parks contributed more than $813 million to local communities during the July 1, 2005 – June 30, 2006 fiscal year. During this time, state parks generated more than 16,000 jobs and welcomed more than 18.2 million visitors.

They forgot to give me my money~!

I shoulda got a check for $50 every floridian should have gotten the same.

Only 18 million floridians.

In stead all I get, is told Since I am not tourist I can ride on state land.

Flock that.

swamp donkey
07-19-2007, 12:11 AM
E, national forrests are in business to grow trees for harvest. whatever president is in power, choses who gets the windfall. i don't care about parties...this is about moolah....fawk the environment when it comes harvest time...cut'em, limb'em, skid'em, load'em, sell'em. period.

these are not state parks....
osceola
appalatchicola
ocala

these are large scale lumber operations run by your government. sold to the highest bidder.

but in the meantime, i can't ride there. i might damage some "flora"

bullsheit.

Any way we slice the pie in florida. The state enforces the law.

I have never seen a federal wild life officer in the national forest.

See now we are in politics.

We are screwed. Basically the state makes the laws to protect the beauty for the tourists, same reason they did net bans. (poor guys from up north was not catching enough fish on their over priced vacations)

Now guess what they still are not catching fish.
(wonders if the net ban did any good)
Their are less trout and mullet and kings in the water now than there was in 1990 before the ban.

Oh wait we was talking about wheeling not fishing. It is late and I am up with the baby.

I need sleep.

Dammit man.

It always boggles me that tree huggers want to save the trees. We drove down the goose pasture and saw NOTHING BUT TREES. For forty minutes, nothing but trees. Those fawkers need to get out of their concrete jungles and take a ride now and then. We're not tearing up anything that can be seen easily, and for that matter, we aren't tearing up anything at all. Off roaders probably pick up more city slicker trash tossed out the window or dumped for conveniance. I have no problem with conservation, but closing down access to national forest to "preserve the beauty of nature" so that no one can get out there to enjoy "the beauty of nature" is simply absurd. Its to the point of ecoterrorism. These are probably the same people who threw paint on fur coats. Ahhh, they just piss me off.

But seriously, can someone bring an SWR meter saturday. Also, what time you want us to start showing up? Figure we could do some grillin and ridin. Maybe a little wrenching or lifting if Pete needs a couple extra hands?

BroncoNole
07-19-2007, 10:07 AM
I've seen CCJ banter about this too. Unfortunately there are more environmentalists that would rather lock us out of public land then work with us to conserve it. They seem to care more about the frog ecosystem than humans anyways. I know a couple people who work for Fish and Wildlife and ask what we can do about it to keep our rights. E is right about the privileges crap...I'm a tax payer...it's my RIGHT to use the parks. If I don't have rights to go in there, then the private companies who harvest the lumber should have to pay market price for the property or share their profits with the tax payers. People think that because we ride through the forest in rigs that we don't care if we destroy anything. That's BS...no forest, nowhere to ride. Besides, who wants to ride through a destroyed forest either? Just dumb. Anyone have an idea about what we can do to change this?

Off of my soap box now. So...anyone know what's going on Sat. now?

what is the plan for saturday? i have a hard time getting "real" excited....since i don't have anything to ride....

but i think the club will have more fun coming to the Casa, rather than driving down dusty washboard roads...

the invite still stands...ya'll tell me what ya'll want to do. ya'll post up.

are we grilling something? barnyard pimp? what?

i know i havent been on much...sorry. who's on first.....???

Sounds good. We'll probably shoot for getting there about 11. Who's bringing a rig? Any projects that need tackling while we are all congregated? See y'all tomorrow!

still waiting to see from tileman....gary is under the weather...but may get bored, who knows. Jon is at the academy (sir, yes SIR!!) jason (jeepbuilder) says hes coming. and me.

anybody else?

i dont have anything to drive, toyota is stuck with a broken front driveshaft in one of the BIG holes....we will need to snatch that japjunk out the way...

the course looks....GOOD. deep holes have water / mud at the bottom, aggressive climbs out with loaded tires....should require some horsepower...

i've been bushoggin' since 4:30 back there to make it nicer...it's now 8:00pm.

B&E?

i say we do something lite and cool for lunch. i am not standing over a fire in this heat....if one of ya'll wants to, go fer it!!! i say good sandwiches and chips. Boars head meat and cheese, publix hoggie rolls, HG tomatoes, lettuce, and all the other stuff. i don't mind going to get this stuff, if thats what yall want to do, but we need to split it up.....moolah wise. should be cheap per person. i normally get pastrami (beef) and tavern ham. swiss and cheddar. but, there again, i'm open. if you want head cheese or olive loaf...say the word.

ya'll talk to me...

Here it is 3:23 and I am up? wth is wrong with me. Oh yeah I gotta feed taylor or he will be pissed at me.

Man three threads 800 posts, no one riding. I better find me a rig quick.

Pete better get his put together fast, everyone else better get a divorce so they can ride.

Ok well back to tending to the baby
