Well, I started working on the 79 Renegade I bought this week. As I stated in my intro, this belonged to a buddy of mine from back in the day (God rest his soul) and I just bought it from his dad. This CJ has been parked for about ten years and is going to need some work.

About eleven years ago the 304 AMC motor was rebuilt and bored. A crane cam was installed, new pushrods, lifters, pistons and pushrods, edelbrock aluminum intake, holley 600 4barrel carb nd aheaders were also installed and the TH400 transmission had a TCI 3500 stall converter and a shift kit installed. After having all of that work done my friend fell sick and parked the Jeep and died a couple of years later.

So, ten years after being parked I have bought this thing and have started working on it. I tell you, I wasnt sure what I was getting into since the Jeep sat for so long but after taking the oil pan, valve covers, and transmission pan off this weekend for servicing I'm very pleased.:D The inside of the motor and tranny looked brand new. I droped the gas tank, cleanded the fuel line and hooked up a small gas can to see if by some chance the Jeep would crank.............well, the used battery I had was crap and wouldnt turn the motor very good. However, it was sparking and pumping fuel but the carb was a no go.

So, as of right now this is what my assessment of what needs to be done to make this baby run and stop.

Rebuild Holley 600 cfm four barrel auto choke carb
New gas tank
New fuel sending unit
Possible master cylinder
Probaly new front calipers and rear wheel cylinders
Flush radiator.
So I'll try the above and if I get er' fired off I'll be able to tell where to go from there. There may be a few electrical issues, such as gauges, switches, knobs and stuff.

Here's the pics again in case anyone missed the intro.
